1/24/25 getting back into animation
School was cancelled on tuesday because of the cold weather and the chance of snow (it didnt snow tho sigh), so I took that chance to work on some of my projects like this website. During that time, friend of a friend taught me how to pirate Adobe Animate!! I've wanted it for so long after using it for a class in middle school, and since then have tried to find similar and cheaper options like Toonsquid (which i still love and will probably still be using alongside adobe). Indie animation and communities like the object show community have been super inspiring to me recently. I see so many cool animations and shows made by teenagers like me and seeing that makes me think "if they can do that, then maybe i can too." I've already made a couple object animations in adobe and I feel like I replicated the bfdia style well. Next thing I wanna do is try animating with hand drawn limbs and faces, which will allow for easier exaggeration and creative freedom than with the assets. I think I'll practice more these next few days, as while I'm able to make good animations, they do take me a while, and I still need some time to get used to the program and become more efficient in it.
Recently, I've been invited to participate in the making of an object show called Battle for Magical Dreams, which is where I met the person who helped me pirate adobe animate. Originally, I was just going to animate with Toonsquid, as that had worked pretty well for me while I had it, yet it wasnt as smooth and advanced as adobe animate, but I think it's still pretty good for a mobile app. It definitely was time to get an update though, now that I had a computer and the technical limitations of my ipad had begun to be inconvenient. So perfect timing for me to get adobe just as I agreed to help on the show lol. At the time of writing this, I think voice acting is nearly done, so I hope storyboarding starts soon, as that will give me an idea on what I'm gonna be animating.
I feel volunteering to animate for this show would be good for me. It'll actually get me to work on my animation skills more, as well as motivate me with the support it has. Maybe after having some good experience under my belt, I can make an animated project of my own someday, or maybe try to certify on adobe animate and put it on my resume since I did that last year with adobe photoshop (for school). Man, I love making cool shit.
thanks for reading!
