1/5/25 "poisoned english breakfast" ii tacojay au
Like the layout? I'm planning on doing something different for every post since i had a lot of fun making it themed hehe. Anyway, a few weeks ago I made a tacojay (taco x oj) centric inanimate insanity au and I want to talk about it here so it doesn't rot away in my notes app lol. it was mostly inspired by this post, which is what made me think about this concept in the first place. season 1 spoilers btw. ALSO!!! in this au, people that aren't actively competing on the show aren't registered in the melife recovery system, so this means death is permanent for the hotel residents because supposedly they aren't gonna be in any danger. eheheheh i love tacojay they make me sick
Once OJ passed the finish line, declaring him the winner of inanimate insanity, Taco kept her cool. If it weren't for Bow's attack, she would've totally won! It wasn't fair, she was built to win. Taco just needed another way to get that prize money without destroying her image, as much as she wanted to rip that suitcase out of his hands and run. No, she wasn't going to mess up again.
After the chaos of Mephone5's attack, OJ used his prize money to construct a hotel, much to Taco's despair, but her eyes were still set on the prize. One night when OJ ventured just a bit too close to the forest, Taco revealed herself, and slowly eased in her more professional sounding personality to him and the rest of the ex-contestants. During her time in the hotel, she spent a lot of time around OJ, constantly talking to him and feeding his evergrowing ego. Eventually, she won his heart over, and she became the assisstant manager of Hotel OJ. Now, she just needed to complete the final step: murder him in cold-blood and inherit the money, along with the hotel. Unfortunately for her, that'd be a way more annoying task than she'd originally thought.

You didn't think I forgot about Salt did you? Taco attempted to befriend her and Pepper so there wouldn't be any tensions during her advance on OJ, but it didn't go that well. Salt was JEALOUS of her and OJ. How could some cunning little mexican food who literally faked her entire personality win his heart and not her? However, Salt's borderline obsession made Taco all the more a favorable partner for OJ. Also Paper is here too but he was too much of a wimp to confess his feelings broken heart emoji... That sounded negative, I love paper btw.
One evening, Salt catches Taco sneaking suspicious substances into the kitchen, and she automatically assumes the worst, which just so happen to be the truth. Of course, she goes and tells everyone in the hotel, only for no one to believe her, not even her best friend, Pepper. Salt had done rash things to try and get Taco and OJ to break up before, and this seemed no different. No one in Hotel OJ was going to believe her without any hard evidence. And thus, she began her detective arc. Lowkey kind of random for Salt to become a detective but it's what the plot calls for I guess LOL. I feel like maybe it would be cool if Paper joins in on the investigation later after witnessing another one of Taco's murder attempts. Salt and Paper detective era when???
Anyway, thanks for listening to me yap! -or,,, read i guess. I want to make more art for this soon. I love tacojay, they fr would make each other worse lol. Also, Rosin from Inanimate Improv recommended a song that really fits this au a lot!! thank you so much!! i say as i wipe away the tears in my tacojay eyes
